Today, I'm super excited to share with you my latest findings on sneaker care. As you may have read in my very first article, I'm discovering the sneaker universe, and I'm now the proud owner of Nike Dunk Pandas.
Now that I have my new pair, I've been wondering how to keep them looking as fresh as they did on their first day!
So, I've found you some tips that I've learned to take care of my Pandas, which are made of leather:
Clean them regularly:
I'm not one to pay attention to where I put my feet when I'm walking ... so my pairs usually get dirty pretty quickly. To keep my Pandas spotless, I clean them regularly. This helps prevent dirt from getting embedded in the pair and making it impossible to remove stains.
So, I use a soft cloth slightly dampened with lukewarm water and gently rub off any stains or dirt. If necessary, you can add a small amount of mild soap to the lukewarm water mixture for more stubborn stains. After cleaning, I carefully wipe the pair with a clean, dry cloth.
Use leather care products:
To keep the leather on my Nike Pandas supple and in good condition, I use leather care products specifically designed for leather. There are lotions, creams, or balms based on beeswax or mink oil that help nourish and protect the leather.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for applying these products and use a soft cloth to spread them evenly over the entire surface of the sneakers.
Protect them from moisture:
Leather can be sensitive to moisture, so I make sure to protect my pair well when I know it's going to rain or when I'm in humid environments.
I use a specific leather waterproofing spray and apply it evenly over the entire surface of the pair following the instructions. This helps prevent water stains and discoloration.
Store them properly:
When not wearing them, I store them in a shoebox or in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
Avoid placing them near heat sources such as radiators or windows, as this can damage the leather. It is also advisable to keep them away from other shoes that could scratch or deform them.
Alternate pairs:
I love my pair, but I know it's important not to wear them every day. By alternating them, I avoid wearing them out prematurely.
I recently bought other pairs (which I will tell you about soon) that I can wear on some days to give my Pandas a well-deserved rest.
Here are some simple tips I have learned to take care of my leather sneakers! I will be back with a new article soon to explain other ways to clean pairs that are not leather!
And don't forget that each pair of sneakers is unique, so be sure to consult the manufacturer's specific recommendations for optimal care.
I hope these tips are helpful! Feel free to share your own cleaning tips in the comments!
